Of course, as unexpected things she's experienced go, this one would hardly even make a list of them, something closer to typical than a hell of a lot of what she's experienced, but it's strange even so. She'd meant to take a job at the Dressing Room as a way to make money while working on her designs, knowing that she's only just been finding her footing when it comes to her work again and that careers don't come about overnight. Now, suddenly, Kate is gone, not long after one of the other employees left as well, and apparently, the store has been left in her charge.
So, it's not exactly something she could have anticipated on any level.
What to do, she hardly knows, except that she does know she'll keep it. It isn't as if she can't keep designing in the meantime, and if she ever does build up enough momentum to go into design like she's always wanted to, she can figure out what to do then. For now, she can manage this. Maybe it's a good thing. Kate's disappearance isn't — the two of them were never overly close, but she knows Jack and Kate were, and it's hard not to worry on that front — but having something to do, to really focus on, might just help keep her going. That was half the reason for this in the first place. Now it's just become more.
Still getting used to the very idea of it, never mind what it entails, she's a little frazzled — a little jumpy anyway, something she's not sure she'll ever entirely shake — looking up with a start when she hears the door open. She softens a little when she sees a familiar face, though, one corner of her mouth hitching up slightly. "Elsa, hi," she says. "Anything I can help you with?"
